BabelUp was founded with a vision that it would serve as a fun place to bring together like-minded people to discuss solutions to global issues. In the process of creating the site, its team saw an opportunity to greatly expand the capabilities of the site in order to create a unique experience; it grew into a fully-fledged Social networking website, with additional support for media submissions like images and video. The stated goal of BabelUp is to involve youth in global issues by attracting them to the site with the social aspect; once these new users spend some time on the site, they are bound to come across an issue that truly interests them.
